The problem

Knowing the STAR method isn't the same as being ready.

Understanding how to structure an answer is one thing. Having the practice material to actually build and rehearse your responses is another — and it's where most candidates run out of runway.

📄

Rehearsing against a blank page

Without real questions to work from, most people practise vaguely — and it shows in the room.

🎯

Not knowing what will actually be asked

Government questions map to specific capabilities. Practising generic questions leaves you exposed to the ones that count.

🗣️

Answers that fall apart under pressure

Stories that sound fine in your head unravel when you say them out loud for the first time in the interview.

⏱️

Running out of examples on the day

Without a prepared library of STAR stories, you're improvising — and panels can tell the difference.

You're ready to practise, not just prepare.

You have a government interview coming up and want real questions to rehearse with
You've read Guide 3 and want the practice material to put it into action
You want to build a library of STAR stories before the day, not on the spot
You're new to government and want to know what kinds of questions to expect
You take interview prep seriously and want to walk in genuinely rehearsed

Not the right fit if…

You want word-for-word model answers to memorise and recite
You want a guide that explains interview technique from scratch (that's Guide 3)
You're preparing for private sector interviews only

Stop improvising. Start rehearsing.

The candidates who get offers are the ones who've practised structured answers out loud before the day. This bank gives you 100+ real questions to build your library of prepared examples.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

This is a practice bank of 100+ real, capability-based questions, plus guidance on how to adapt your own experience into strong STAR answers. It deliberately doesn't hand you scripts to memorise — panels can spot rehearsed, generic answers instantly. Instead, it gives you the questions and the framework so you build your own authentic library of examples. If you want the full technique behind structuring answers, that's covered in Guide 3.

It works on its own as a practice bank — you can pick it up and start building answers straight away. That said, it's designed as the companion to Guide 3 (Cracking the Government Interview Code): Guide 3 teaches you how interviews are structured and assessed and how to build a strong STAR answer, and this bank gives you the questions to practise on. Together they cover technique and practice.

Generic question lists aren't mapped to how government actually assesses candidates. These 100+ questions are drawn from real government recruitment and organised by capability category, so you can target your practice to the capabilities your specific role is being assessed against — written by a senior HR professional who has sat on 1,200+ selection panels.

The guide is delivered as a PDF, available for immediate download after purchase through Gumroad. You can read it on any device, print it, and refer back to it as many times as you need.

Each guide stands completely on its own — you can purchase whichever is most relevant to where you are in the application process. That said, the series is designed to work together: if you're preparing end-to-end for a government role, working through all four will give you the most complete picture.
